General Info
"Chess Battle" is a Unique Weekly Live Chess Tournament Event with prizes and features that will change Your World! It starts every Monday at 13:00 FICS server time. Status
So far, we had 13 Chess Battle weekly events. Yes, we had that one last time with risky #13 attached to it :) but we survived it. The new record of the most players in the weekly Chess Battle tournament is 81. It's just 19 players shy from hitting the magic number 100, which is our current goal to reach. As you can see, having completed 13 events, means we have gone through 13 Battle Games (banter games) where #1 and #2 from the tournament whisper their thoughts, ideas, plans, tactics, etc. almost after every move. We have all those 13 Battle Games on our official website and they can be downloaded with al its comments from players, audience, and Fritz 7. There are very strong players in every Battle game and we frequently have a privilege of having titled players in it. Out of last 13 events, we had titled players like IM and FM participated in 7 of them... almost every other event has a titled player.
Grand Prix race is On!
Only 5 events left till the end of this calendar year when the Grand Prix standing will award top 5 players. The basic idea of Grand Prix is to award players who plays not necessarily the best chess but plays very frequently. Every time you play in a weekly tournament, you get your points from it added to your Grand prix total. Currently, the top 10 in the Grand Prix standing is:

The total list of Grand Prix consists of 290 players now. It's not too late to jump in and get your Grand Prix score higher. At the end of the year, huge prizes like full subscriptions to ChessPublishing.com will be awarded.
Grand Battle Elite Event (GBEE)
It is the new yearly Elite event by invitation only!

Grand Battle Elite Event is abbreviated as GBEE for future references and will consist of Grand Battle Elite Tournament (GBET) and Grand Battle Elite Game (GBEG).

GBEE is held once a year in January. For example, in January of 2003, there will be 2002 GBEE that will be based on the performances of the players during 2002.

It will be the tournament by invitation only... Grand Battle Elite Tournament (GBET)! Only players participated in any weekly Battle Game during the year will be invited. So, if you made it to the final Battle Game in one of the weekly Chess Battle events, you are qualified to participate in yearly GBEE.

The tournament format will be: 5 0 time control, rated, Swiss System with default number of rounds (depends on the number of showed up invitees).

Right after the tourney is finished, #2 and #1 from its standing will be playing the final Grand Battle Elite Game (GBEG) just like in regular weekly Battle events. The Battle Game will be again 20 12 rated in time control for players to whisper their thoughts after almost every move. All the same rulles apply in GBEE as in usual weekly Battle events explained above except the tiebreak will use the "performance" check first and only then the "upset" points.

The Grand Battle Elite Game players (#2 and #1 from the tourney) will receive extra super valuable prizes. The prizes for this Elite Event are mentioned in the prizes section in "yearly prizes" sub-section.

2002 GBEE will start on Tuesday, January 7th, 2003, at 13:00 fics server time. If you played in any of the weekly final Battle Games, you are qualified to play in 2002 GBEE, and you just need to show up on fics on January 7th, 2003, at 13:00 fics server time.
