The 17th season of play for the 45 45 League began recently, for 12 teams of
players on FICS. Teams were set up in three rating classes (based on the average rating of
their top four boards), Under 2000, Under 1600, and Under 1300.
The *other* server (I$$) wound up having a total of 24 teams: 8 in the Under 2000, 12 in the
Under 1600, and 4 in the Under 1300. Six teams in each division were formed for FICS, except for the Under 1300
division, where there were insufficient entries, as can be seen in the standings below.
The 45 45 League is a competition for those who like the slower
time controls. Teams of up to 6 players (only 4 get to play in a
match) compete in divisional play to determine which teams will play in the intra-server
championships. Those teams that win their server championships will play in
the inter-server championships.
The newest season began December 12th.
